EN:
A fight scene from a pastoral novel from 1554 of a man (Bimnarder) with a walking staff fighting another with an halberd (a barbarian).

Quick translation of the bold text:

Bimnarder places himself with the staff high, showing his intent to parry the strike, and one of the barbarians attacks him: Bimnarder evades the body and sees the strike falling and hitting the ground with all its metal part going into the ground. Before the halberd is raised again, Bimnarder hits him with both hands with such a strike that one of the hands of the barbarian is broken in pieces: with the other hand the barbarian gives a revez from behind, and one of the dogs, that was close to him, without being able to run away has his legs compleatly cut off: At that time Bimnarder has another strike armed high, he sees the barbarian not being able to raise his weapon, but doing instead a thrust to Bimnader, that went between his legs. Without being able to step out like that, Bimnarder gave another strike to the head of the barbarian, that broke it, and so he fell down.
